ESOL 'Conservation'

What is a Conservation?

Conservation Week is a chance to bring everyone together to do something, big or small to create change. Every year thousands of New Zealanders come together or people around their country get together for a activity to do together. This year conversation week is on 14-22 of September in 2019.

I think that conservation week is important for everyone because we all get together like a family and do activity's for a week and a day. They also get to know each other and became closer and know each other more. Conservation week is important for people because those who don't have family's around the world can feel like their with family and friends. We would also spend time with each other helping the plants and animals survive and making sure we have animals and plant's to live with.

3 things young New Zealander's could do to help protect the plants, animals, and environment is that they can keep the earth clean they can feed the animals if they see them in a cold place and they could protect the plants if the water and stop pulling the plants apart. They could also make New Zealanders keep this earth a better place.

Themes:
- courage and bravery
- looks can be deceiving

(S)The theme of looks can be deceiving is shown through the gradual chage of the other mother from a honey sweet woman to a vinegar sour metal spider.(E) At the start of the film the other mother appears short, curvy and wearing the same clothes as the same as Coraline's real mother.(X) This makes the audience feel safe, happy and relaxed towards the other mother. (X) The director did this to show that us that Coraline feels at home with the other mother in the other world. However the other mother changes slowly through out the film until she finally becomes a metal skeleton, metal spider who wants to trap Coraline in the other worlds.(X) When we first see the other mother she is in a warm orange light that makes her feel safe, but by the end she is surrounded by dark and green light which makes her seem evil, grotesque and horrifying. (X) Selick shows these changes to help the audience understand that the other mother was not who she really appeared to be and this shows the theme looks can be deceiving.

Science ' labeling and what they mean'

Salivary glandsThe salivary glands produce saliva, which keeps the mouth and other parts of the digestive system moist. It also helps break down carbohydrates.

Oesophagus - The part of the alimentary canal which connects the throat to the stomach. In humans and other vertebrates it is a muscular tube lined with mucous membrane.

Stomach - The stomach is a muscular organ located on the left side of the upper abdomen. The stomach secretes acid and enzymes that digest food. Ridges of muscle tissue called rugger line the stomach
Pancreas - The pancreas produces the hormone insulin and secretes it into the bloodstream, where it regulates the body's glucose or sugar level.

Small intestine - The small intestine is the part of the intestines where 90% of the digestion and absorption of food occurs, the other 10% taking place in the stomach and large intestine. The main function of the small intestine is absorption of nutrients and minerals from food. Digestion involves two distinct parts.

Liver - The liver is a large, meaty organ that sits on the right side of the belly. The liver also detoxifies chemicals and metabolizes drugs. As it does so, the liver secretes bile that ends up back in the intestines. The liver also makes proteins important for blood clotting and other functions.

Gall Bladder - Your gallbladder is a four-inch, pear-shaped organ. It's positioned under your liver in the upper-right section of your abdomen. The gallbladder stores bile, a combination of fluids, fat, and cholesterol. Bile helps break down fat from food in your intestine. The gallbladder delivers bile into the small intestine.

Bile Duct -  The bile ducts carry bile from the liver and gallbladder through the pancreas to the duodenum, which is a part of the small intestine.

Large Intestine - The large intestine is the final section of the gastrointestinal tract that performs the vital task of absorbing water and vitamins while converting digested food into feces.

Appendix - Normally, the appendix sits in the lower right abdomen. The function of the appendix is unknown. One theory is that the appendix acts as a storehouse for good bacteria, “rebooting” the digestive system after diarrhea illnesses.

Rectum - The rectum is a part of the lower gastrointestinal tract. The rectum is a continuation of the sigmoid colon, and connects to the anus

Anus - The anus is the opening where the gastrointestinal tract ends and exits the body. The anus starts at the bottom of the rectum, the last portion of the colon (large intestine). Glands release fluid into the anus to keep its surface moist.

Social Studies 'What Is Money?'

Today in Social Studies We got asked 'What is Money?' and to me it means someone who owns it. I also have made a mindmup to tell you what I personally think what money is, what it's uses are, and how it has changed over time. Finally we got told to write 2-3 sentences of what I have learnt about while I have been doing my work. What I learnt about is that money is what we use to live off because if we don't have money we will not be able to live under a roof and not be able to come to school and learn new things that we've been given to do.

- orange, artificial, warm light.

- director - Coraline is happy there. Shows us the other father wants to spend time with Coraline.

Paragraph
Colour is effective in helping to create the too worlds and show the theme 'looks can be deceiving! The real world study uses a colour palette predominantly of greys, whites, and blues. This creates a cold, lonely, and boring atmosphere. The director did this to show that Coraline is unhappy in the real world and that her real father is to busy to spend time with her. The use of a cold natural light re-enforces this mood. Juxtaposed to this is the use of colour in the other world study. Vibrant reds, oranges and yellows make the room feel warm, safe and cosy. Selick used this palette to show that Coraline is happier in the other world where the other father has time for her.  This shows that 'looks can be deceiving because Coraline mistakes the bright perfect world for a safe place when really it is a trap for Coraline.

The director did this to show that Coraline doesn't like it here and is unhappy. Juxtaposed to this is the kitchen in the other world. It is lit by a warm orange artificial light that makes the space feel warm, welcoming, and safe. Se lick used this to show that Coraline is happy and feels at home in the other world. This helps show the theme "looks can be deceiving! because Coraline feels safe but by the end of the film we will discover that the other world is a perfect trap designed to catch Coraline .

The Greats - Guitar

Jimi HendrixJimi Hendrix was born in Seattle on November 27, 1942 as John Allen Hendrix. He was initially raised by his mother while his father, James “Al” Hendrix, was in Europe fighting in World War II. When Al returned to the United States in 1945, he collected his son and renamed him James Marshall Hendrix.
In 1966, Chas Chandler—the bassist for The Animals, who would go on to become Jimi’s manager—saw the musician playing at Cafe What? in New York City. "This guy didn't seem anything special, then all of a sudden he started playing with his teeth," roadie James "Tappy" Wright, who was there, told the BBC in 2016. "People were saying, 'What the hell?' and Chad thought, 'I could do something with this kid.’”
Eric ClaptonEric Clapton is a MASSIVE football fan. So much so that he requested a Foosball table be placed in a special room on each leg of his 1995 North American tour.Clapton has been a member of or played with nine different bands or artists. Sometimes the guitarist will play so hard that he breaks his guitar strings. Audiences wait patiently and slow clap while he changes them, and is the origin of his nickname “Slowhand.”At one point, Clapton was so drunk at one of his own concerts that he played and sang while lying on the floor with the microphone next to him.Clapton is a petrol head and an avid collector of Ferraris, with one SP 12 EC that reportedly cost him £3 million.Clapton has been romantically linked to musician Sheryl Crow and he was the basis of her song “My Favourite Mistake.”If Eric didn't pursue music, then he would be a stained-glass designer, as he studied the craft at Kingston College of Art in 1961. However, he only lasted a year before he turned to music. The cheeky guitarist once hit actress Shirley MacLaine in the face with a pie. It took place on the set of the 1970 short film Circasia. MacLaine had no clue it was going to happen, and was so furious afterwards that she refused to speak to the musician for months. He has an asteroid named after him. Pictured below, Harvard University named minor planet 4305 as “4305 Clapton” after it was discovered in 1976.
