ESOL

What are your learning goals for this semester?
For ESOL there are two new students and I am one of them. We got asked if we can blog about what our learning goals are for this semester. For me, I have set my goals, and they are
  • Learn to spell by the end of the semester or even during this semester
  • Learn how to read during this semester
Explain why these are your goals?
The reason why I choose these goals is that first with my spelling I don't really spell the words properly or I ask someone near me to spell the word. I also don't spell the word right even tho I know how to. Second, with my reading, I am not a good reader of my age if you know me. But other than that when I read I sometimes struggle with my pronunciation. Sometimes it takes time for me to sound out the words. So this is why I picked these goals for this semester.

Give examples of things you can do to help you reach these goals.
How I can reach my first goal is to always practice my spelling at home and at school like using flashcards, spelling bee, and scrabble or I can ask someone to test what rate I am on my spelling. I can also go to my parents and siblings for them to help me.

For my second goal, I can always read books for my level and read every day so when my class does reading my teacher can pick me to read. I also can go practice my pronunciation on words I can't say. When I see a word I can't say or spell I can clap out the sounds of each part to learn fast.

I hope that one day I will be able to reach my goal because in English I am practicing my spelling and my reading so when we do 10 minutes or reading every lesson I can read along instead of just listing.

  1. Hi Siola! I really like how you set your goal and aimed to acheive it. I also like your explanation of how you're gonna acheive it. Maybe you can expand on your second goal. Keep up the great work.
